What to bring to your GLP-1 follow-up appointment
GLP-1 follow-ups are short and consequential: dose changes, refills and side-effect management all get decided in minutes. The patients who get the most out of them arrive with specifics. Here's what your prescriber actually wants to know — and how to have it ready.
The questions you'll almost certainly be asked
- "Have you been taking it consistently?" — exact shot dates matter, especially any late or missed doses.
- "How has your weight changed?" — a trend since the last visit beats a single number.
- "Any side effects?" — what, how severe, and when in your cycle. "Nausea on days 1–2, gone by day 3" is a decision-grade answer; see why timing matters.
- "How is your appetite?" — including whether hunger or food noise returns before shot day.
- "Anything unusual?" — injection-site reactions, new symptoms, other medication changes.
The checklist
- ✅ Shot history: dates, doses, any gaps
- ✅ Weight trend since last visit (weekly averages are ideal)
- ✅ Side effects with severity and cycle-day timing
- ✅ Appetite notes — especially late-cycle changes
- ✅ Injection sites used (and any skin reactions)
- ✅ Your questions, written down in advance
- ✅ Pharmacy/supply issues, if any
Or just bring the PDF
If you log your shots, weight and check-ins in DoseTracker, this whole checklist is one button: Export health report creates a clean PDF with your medication history, weight trend and symptom summary — organized the way a clinician reads, not the way a diary rambles. Email it ahead or hand over your phone in the room.
Questions worth asking back
- Is my current dose doing what you'd expect at this stage?
- Which of my side effects should I just ride out, and which should I call about?
- If I plateau, what's the plan?
- What's the protocol if I miss a dose while traveling?
This guide is general education, not medical advice. Your prescriber's guidance always takes precedence.
